Before the words escape me.

You lay down.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
You try to sleep but your mind starts to wander.

What if this world wasn't real?
And it was just a dream?
That you and I
were just a figment of someone's imagination?
Is that why I can no longer dream?
Is that why we feel hallow inside?
Is that why we need someone else to feel at peace?
To feel normal?

What if there were other worlds?
Alternate universes?
Doing the same mistakes we did.
Filling the world with greed and war.
Having our waste slowly kill us and the planet we stand on.

What if there was nothing after death?
Just white.
A blank canvas, so you can start over again.
What if there is something after death?
That there is a heaven?
That you haunt the earth?
Or you live in a new world in another universe?

What is normal anyways?
If we're all unique in our own way, how is there even a normal?
An average?

We're judged based on our looks.
Our clothes.
What kind of music we listen to.
The books we read.
The grades we get.
The friends we make.
But what does that all matter in the end?

And how can people keep moping about their lives
when they have everything?
They have a roof over their heads.
A fridge that's always filled with foods.
Money in their pockets,
yet, they think they are the unfortunate ones.
What if there was no tomorrow?
What if there was only a today?
What your day worth it?
Did you spend it wisely?
Not sitting in a chair watching TV as your life passes by as you do nothing.

What if this world is nothing but a world inside a book?
And the story ends at the very last word
of the very last page.

What if you've lived forever but you didn't know it because you lost all your memories when you were reborn?

Your mind starts to wander as you try to fall asleep.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
You're asleep.

And when day comes.
You won't remember a thing.
